producer of "FoxNews" says she was forced to lie

Abby Grossberg claims that part of the network’s strategy to defend itself against allegations in the Dominion case was to blame her.

Abby Grossberg, a Fox News producer, said she was forced by Fox News attorneys to lie in her testimony in the lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems, a company that makes voting machines. In 2021, the company filed a $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox for defamation. The information comes from Portal.

Grossberg filed a lawsuit against Fox on Monday (March 20) for forcing it to make misleading statements in the case. According to the producer, she was ordered by the network’s lawyers in a “coercive and intimidating manner” not to name company executives or famous presenters.

Abby Grossberg also alleges that the network “encourages a toxic and misogynistic environment” where female employees “are verbally assaulted daily by an ingrained, toxic patriarchy.”

And he added that as part of the strategy to defend itself against the allegations, the channel blamed her and Maria Bartiromo instead of the men who “supported reporting the lies”.

In a statement released on Tuesday (March 21), the broadcaster denied the allegations and said Grossberg’s comments were made after his performance was criticized.

“Fox News Media has retained independent outside counsel to promptly investigate the concerns raised by Grossberg, which were raised following a critical performance review,” the statement said.

Dominion is suing Fox News for defamation. In the lawsuit, the company alleges that the US broadcaster intentionally spread “false and malicious rumors” about the veracity of electronic voting machines produced by the company during the 2020 election.

At the time, Donald Trump and former allies claimed Dominion machines had been hacked and programmed to exchange votes in favor of Joe Biden. Manifestations of fraud were widely broadcast by the channel.

Also on Tuesday (March 21), lawyers for Dominion Voting said Fox knew the allegations of voter fraud were false but had spread the allegations further in search of an audience.

“They chose to let the story go […] because viewers left Fox,” said Rodney Smolla, Dominion attorney.

The trial in the Dominion case is scheduled for April 17 in Delaware (USA).
