Rawdon’s Novembal factory will close at the end of September

The French manufacturer of plastic bottle caps from Lanaudière will thank its 43 employees on September 30, according to the layoff notice to the Quebec government.

“The Sidel Group has decided to terminate the activities of its subsidiary Novembal, a company that produces a diverse range of closures for the liquid food packaging market. Novembal has been an independent part of the Sidel Group since 2014 with offices in the United States and Canada,” the Sidel Group confirmed to the Journal.

“This decision is in response to the changing economic environment and is expected to come into force at the end of September 2023. “The Group is committed to supporting the well-being of all affected employees and ensuring the best possible transition for everyone involved,” we assured.

Apart from this short written statement, it was not possible to get an interview for more details.

Novembal will also close two more factories in the United States, according to Plastic News.

In total, the Sidel Group has almost 40,000 production machines in 190 countries.

The subsidiary Novembal has specialized in the development of plastic closures for the food sector.

Last June, Sidel announced a partnership with Coca-Cola in Europe to develop lighter bottles “to encourage collection and recycling and reduce waste.”
