Revenues from Bolivian gas exports to Brazil, Paraguay and Peru rise 65% in first half

LA PAZ, July 20 (Xinhua). Revenue from Bolivia’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exports to the markets of Brazil, Paraguay and Peru rose 65 percent in the first half of the year, the Bolivian Fiscal Oilfields (YPFB) reported on Wednesday.

“The amount invoiced between January and June of this year for the marketing of more than 69,000 tons of LPG to neighboring countries exceeded $46.9 million in gross revenue generated from the export of this product,” said YPFB President Armin. before journalists Dorgaten Tapia.

The Bolivian official said the above figure represented 65 percent more than in the first half of 2021, a period in which $28.4 million was billed for the same concept.

According to the state-owned oil company, the South American nation has established itself as the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas to neighboring countries in the region, buoyed by a global economic revival.

According to the state-owned company, YPFB is fulfilling its constitutional mandate to prioritize the supply of the domestic market, having achieved product self-sufficiency with the Río Grande liquid separation plants in Santa Cruz Department (East) and the “Carlos Villegas Quiroga” plant. from Tarija (South), for which it exports the surpluses.

Dorgathen Tapia commented that the production of liquids, gas and condensates has increased, making it possible to sell more on the external market, although he confirmed that ensuring the supply of internal demand is a priority.

The head of YPFB explained that the Bolivian oil company exported the available surplus according to the current regulations, a scenario that is reflected in the invoiced value.

“Price behavior in the international market has also contributed positively to the revenues generated,” he added.

In the Paraguayan market, 17.9 million dollars were billed for the marketing of the product, in the Brazilian market 15.9 million dollars and in the Peruvian market 13 million dollars, according to the contracts signed for the purchase and sale of LPG .
