The quarterfinals of the Iowa high school football playoffs are in and it was a lot of fun.

On Friday night, reporters traveled across the state to bring you the best action from the big game. Unfortunately we couldn’t play every single game.

Luckily, we have this live blog to bring you all the action from the games you weren’t able to attend in person.

Here’s a look at all the incredible highlights and big moments from Friday night’s games.

9:30 Heelan wins a wild 3OT thriller

Ankeny Centennial scores 41 unanswered points

That gave them a 41:14 win over Bettendorf and secured them a spot in the state semifinals.

They will face either Valley, Southeast Polk or their cross-city rival Ankeny next week.

Solon returns to Cedar Falls

Southeast Polk makes it back to the UNI-Dome

The Rams are looking for their third straight state championship after beating Cedar Falls 21-20.

It was a scare for Southeast Polk as CF scored 20 unanswered points, but a defensive stance on a 2-point attempt helps the Rams punch their ticket to the state semifinals.

Cedar Falls is making a wild comeback

Cedar Falls terrifies Southeast Polk and scores on an HB pass to the quarterback, but the 2-point conversion fails and they trail 21-20 with less than a minute to play.

You have to recover an onside kick to have a chance here.

Valley punches entry ticket to UNI-Dome

After starting the season 0-4 and then 1-5, the Tigers are getting hot at the right time and securing a spot in the Class 5A semifinals.

They beat Waukee 20-7 tonight and head to the dome for the second straight year.

They defeated Regina 22-7

That’s 35 unanswered points for the Jags with just under 10 minutes left to play in this game.

Centennial leads 35-14 against Bettendorf.

9:00 There’s some drama at Southeast Polk now

The Rams still hold the lead, but Cedar Falls has now scored 14 unanswered points.

It’s 21-14 with only about 8 minutes left to play after Drew Gerdes scores.

8:58 Grundy Center heads to the Dome

8:55 Ankeny surprises Dowling

The Hawks held firm and forced a turnover on downs to defeat Dowling 14-7.

The Hawks punch their ticket to the UNI-Dome, where they may face Ankeny Centennial. They currently lead Bettendorf 21-14.

8:51 Centennial has flipped the switch

Jags score 21 unanswered points from Bettendorf to take a 21-14 lead. The Bulldogs also fail on the following kickoff, so Centennial now has the chance to extend its lead.

8:50 Dowling gets the ball back

The Maroons still have about 1:37 minutes left to march the ball down the field and decide the game. They run out of timeouts and Ankeny leads 14-7. They start their drive at their own 40 yard line.

Buckle up everyone.

The Maroons fail on a fourth down attempt and turn the ball over on downs.

With just under four minutes to play, Ankeny has a seven-point lead. Maroons only have one more time out.

DeGroote finds Jayden Brown for a nice hit. By the end of the third quarter, Valley was up 20-7.

West Delaware’s Brett Yonkovic finds the end zone from 10 yards out. This is his fifth total score of the night. West Delaware leads the Spartans 35-27.

I’m not sure what happened while the play was running when the stream returned from a commercial break, but Ankeny recovered a Dowling fumble as the Maroons drove just outside the red zone.

Ankeny led 14-7 early in the final quarter.

Jags still trails Bettendorf 14-7 in the second half, but the offense has some life.

The Hawks take a 14-7 lead after Devon Akers deflects a short pass from Luke Anderson right at the pylon.

That was Ankeny’s first drive of the second half. There are only 4:16 left in the third quarter.

Waukee looked like it would take a 10-6 lead just before halftime, but Jayden McGregory blocked a short field goal and returned it nearly 70 yards to the house.

It is now 13-7 with the Tigers ahead of Waukee.

7:55 ADM takes a two-point lead over Lewis Central

Aiden Flora is really good, y’all. Towards the end of the first half, he only threw one long score to give the Tigers a 21-10 lead.

7:53 Cedar Falls gets on the board

7:50 Grundy Center feels comfortable at halftime

There it is 21:0, the Spartans lead Dike-New Hartford.

Drake DeGroote threw a 71-yard scoring strike to Hayden McGregory, securing Valley’s first points and taking a 6-0 lead over Waukee.

DeGroote really came into his own in the final weeks of the season for the Tigers.

That was the first touchdown of the night thanks to a 13-yard run by Kamdyn Cross to make it 10-0.

But just a few plays later, ADM responded with a 65-yard scoring run from QB Aiden Flora.

CJ Phillip is the Rams’ leading rusher this season with 810 yards and 12 scores. He averages 5.5 yards per clip. That’s a significant loss if he can’t walk.
