Robert De Niro has admitted he “doesn’t put in all the effort” when it comes to raising his youngest daughter Gia, six months old, leaving the task to his partner.
The 80-year-old Hollywood actor and his girlfriend Tiffany Chen (45) gave birth to their first child together in April, marking the seventh time Robert has become a father.
Robert has confessed that Tiffany does most of the “work” in looking after their little one, while they also receive help with childcare.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “It [having children] It’s that easy. It is what it is. It’s okay. I mean, I don’t do the heavy lifting. I’m here, I support my friend. But she does the work. And we have help, which is so important.”
Robert said he was still enjoying fatherhood, telling the publication: ” [I enjoy] all of it! Things are different with a baby than with my 11 year old. My adult children. My grandchildren. It’s all different… I don’t talk to the adult children the way I talk to my baby or my 11-year-old, even though she’s pretty smart.’

Elsewhere in the interview, the veteran actor admitted that one of his hopes for the future is to “stay alive.”
He added: “Of course I’m thinking about it.” [death], at my age… It won’t stop me, but you think about it… I’m aware of it. You think more about time. Every summer, every new season, everything, you say, “Well, I’m going to use these few months of summer to be with my kids and my family.”
“I can’t wait for the next time – I don’t know what will happen.” So everything becomes more important. Everything I do in terms of time is important. Whatever I want to do in two years, I’d better think about doing it now.”
In July, Tiffany revealed she suffered a “postpartum complication” after the couple gave birth to their daughter.
In her first interview since giving birth, Tiffany opened up about her experience to CBS Morning co-host Gayle King.
The couple surprised the world with the news of the birth of their daughter Gia in May. The news came after the couple, who have been linked since summer 2021, met for the first time on the film set of the actor’s hit 2015 comedy The Intern.
Robert is also father to Drena (51), Raphael (46), twins Julian and Aaron (27), Elliot (24) and Helen (11).
Tiffany’s interview came at a time when the entire De Niro family was grieving following the tragic death of the actor’s 18-year-old grandson, Leandro.

Leandro’s shock death occurred on July 5, when the teenager’s lifeless body was found on a chair next to white powder in a $950,000 one-bedroom apartment at the Cipriani Club Residences on Wall Street, New York.
His mother, Drena, then claimed that her son died after taking an overdose of fentanyl.
“Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they knew were fentanyl-laced and sold them to him anyway,” the Oscar winner’s heartbroken daughter claimed on Instagram.
She added: “Despite all these people still messing around with selling and buying this shit, my son is gone forever.”
The grieving mother made the remark in response to a commenter who asked her how her son died.
At a memorial service for the teenager, De Niro was joined by Tommy Mottola, Christopher Walken and Harvey Keitel, who helped their friend grieve the loss of his grandchild.

The longtime entertainer shared a glimpse of his seventh child during an appearance on CBS Mornings in May.
During an appearance on the Today Show during the Tribeca Film Festival weeks later, he spoke about his newborn daughter.
Robert also gushed about raising a newborn, saying: “It feels amazing.”
Reflecting on how he’s changed as a father, the star told host Hoda Kotb: “I have a certain awareness – when you’re older you’re aware of certain things in life, dynamics, everything, family dynamics.”
The Goodfellas actor added, “You can’t help but learn certain things and learn how to deal with them and manage them and this and that, the usual stuff.”
“It’s great, but I’m very happy about it.”
Shortly after news of his new addition to the family came to light, the actor told Page Six that the birth of his seventh child was “planned,” asking, “How come you couldn’t plan something like that?”
Ahead of Father’s Day, Robert spoke to People about his children and revealed that his six older children had not yet met his two-month-old daughter. “Not yet, but they will,” he explained.
Robert will next be seen on the big screen in Killers of the Flower Moon.
The film is based on the bestseller of the same name starring Leonardo DiCaprio and was directed by his good friend Martin Scorsese.
The film tells the sad but true story of the investigation into the mysterious murders of members of the Osage tribe in Oklahoma in the 1920s.
The film received a ten-minute standing ovation after it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
