On Friday (November 17), the family announced that Rosalynn had begun receiving palliative care, just like the former president, who is 99 years old. In May, the Carter family publicly announced that Rosalynn had been diagnosed with dementia.
Both were married for 77 years. They married 15 years before the politician became governor of Georgia in 1946. She and Jimmy were the longestmarried presidential couple. The former Democratic president ruled the USA from 1977 to 1981.
The couple founded the Carter Center after Jimmy left the presidency. The aim of the foundation is to deal with international crises and to promote democracy and human rights.
