Ross Chastain won Sunday’s NASCAR Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedwa with a thrilling final lap pass.

The win marked the Trackhouse Racing driver’s second Cup Series victory both this season and in his career.

Chastain entered the final corner in third as second-placed Kyle Larson pulled out to try to pass Erik Jones for the lead.

Losing traction and slowing as he tried to block Larson, Jones opened the door for Chastain to dive into the two for the win.

Chastain performed his signature celebration of climbing onto his car and smashing a watermelon on it as a tribute to his family’s eight-generation history of growing the fruit in Florida.

Austin Dillon finished second ahead of Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr. and Jones who salvaged a sixth result.

Larson pushed Kurt Busch against the wall in his attempt to pass Jones, and Busch crashed into teammate Bubba Wallace’s car, destroying him as well.

“Holy cow! We didn’t do anything! We just stayed down there!” Chastain said over his radio.

“I’m always the one who gets to the front early and makes the mistake, and by the end it was about eight and I was like, ‘I’m not going back up there,'” Chastain said. “I did that a couple of times today, I was like, ‘I’m just riding on the floor. I’m not going to lose the race for us.’

Chastain’s win was also the second for the Trackhouse Racing Team, owned by Justin Marks and entertainer Pitbull, whom he thanked after the race.

“[Sponsors are] believe in us We started the year with a lot of open races. We’re almost full now, and that’s because of Justin Marks’ vision. Pitbull Armando, we won, yes!!”
