Russell Wilson wants to STAY with Denver Broncos despite being benched for refusing to modify his $37 million injury guarantee: 'I came here to win – I want to play here'

Russell Wilson has insisted he wants to stay with the Denver Broncos despite the franchise being benched for the final two games of the season due to a standoff over his contract.

The quarterback spoke at length about the sensational news from earlier this week, claiming he wants to stay with the Broncos and win Super Bowls with the team.

“I came here to play here to win.” I knew it would be a process. “I have signed a seven-year contract,” he said.

“I want to be here, I want to play here, I want to win championships here. “I want to do my best every week. “I want to be the best teammate and leader I can be.”

However, the 35-year-old admitted that he doesn't know if he will still be in Denver next year. When it was announced earlier this week that Wilson would be benched, it was said he expected to be released by March.

He also confirmed that he was warned that he would be benched in October after the win over the Kansas City Chiefs and that he would be benched if he did not change his injury bond.

“They came to me during the break week and told me that if I didn't change my contract and my injury guarantee, I would be on the bench for the rest of the year,” Wilson said.

As it was, Wilson continued to play so far and the Broncos are 7-8 on the season with two games left.

They host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and round out the season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
