Dramatic drone footage released by the Ukrainian military on Thursday shows Russian tanks being ambushed on their way to the capital, Kiev.
According to the Times of London, several tanks and other armored vehicles exploded as a result of an attack by Ukrainian defenders using artillery shells or mines.
According to analysts, there was a car with a thermobaric rocket launcher in the ambush in the convoy.
On Wednesday, the British Ministry of Defense announced that Russia had acknowledged the use of “vacuum bombs” in Ukraine.
The British agency said Russia had confirmed that it used a mobile missile launch system, usually equipped with thermobaric warheads that suck air around targets and can rupture people’s lungs.
US officials had previously confirmed the presence of thermobaric launchers in Ukraine, but could not say if they had been used.

The footage claims more than 35 Russian tanks and armored personnel carriers are trying to advance towards Brovary, an eastern suburb of Kyiv, according to the Times of London.
A lone convoy is seen coming to a halt due to an explosion on the road and then attempting to evade the impact.
Justin Crump, a military analyst at Sibylline, said the convoy included a TOS-1A weapon system that fired thermobaric “vacuum bombs.”

“This is part of a group that has cut its way through rough terrain and is forming a possibly more dangerous strike against Kiev,” he told the convoy newspaper.
“They will probably move towards the dam in the north of the city,” Crump added.

Video of the ambush was released early Thursday morning, right before Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov for talks in Antalya, Turkey.
Kuleba said there was “no progress” during the “difficult” meeting to achieve a ceasefire in the 15-day war.
