For the Stars, this duel meant the return of goalkeeper Jake Oettinger to the game. The 25-year-old American played his first game since December 15th. He suffered a groin injury in the 5-4 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Against the Predators, Oettinger made 32 saves. Kevin Lankinen, defending the winner's cage, made 19 saves. He was thwarted by shots from Matt Duchene, Jani Hakanpaa and Wyatt Johnston.

The Predators will be back in action this Saturday when they receive a visit from the New York Islanders. On the same day, the Stars will face the Blackhawks in Chicago.
