Lauren Miller Rogen revealed this week that she underwent surgery to treat a brain aneurysm.
Miller Rogen, married to actor and producer Seth Rogen, shared her experience during a speech at the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery’s Visionary Ball in Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to People.
Because dementia runs in her family, Miller Rogen explained that she had a full-body MRI several years ago “to take a closer look at anything that might be lurking inside me that could affect my longevity.”
She revealed: “Of course they found this type of aneurysm in my head. This was of course frightening information and made me think of my great-grandmother, whose fate I definitely did not want to emulate.”
Initially, says Miller Rogen, the aneurysm “stayed small.” She later had surgery at UCLA to correct the problem when doctors noticed last year that it had gotten bigger.
“I am Dr. Colby, his entire team and the entire UCLA staff for guiding us through this frightening experience that I am truly grateful to have overcome,” added Miller Rogen.
She founded the nonprofit organization Hilarity for Charity in 2012 to raise money for dementia care and research.
