A British woman in her 40s who wanted to mortgage her house to care for her sick nine-month-old puppy won the lottery and decided to invest her winnings to save him.
Anna-Marie Stevens did everything she could to treat her bull, who fell victim to possible poisoning that led to chronic kidney failure.
During a walk in Essex, the owner discovered that the dog had probably ingested something poisonous, reported the Chron, quoted by France Live.
But treating such an illness required the equivalent of nearly $15,000, an amount Ms. Stevens did not have.
As luck would have it, the forty-year-old won almost $20,000 in the lottery, a sum that the owner didn't hesitate for a moment to use to care for her sick dog.
“I spent all my lottery winnings,” Ms Stevens told the Chron, adding: “But I would have remortgaged my house if there had been a chance of saving it.”
But despite the care provided, the dog died a week later, leaving his owner heartbroken, who now wants to raise awareness of the presence of poisons in Essex.
