The singer’s press office states that he has responded well to the treatment and that he is only doing this first followup as a medical precaution in the hospital. He is expected to be released at the weekend.

The singer was diagnosed after a series of tests. The disease, which affects 1.5 million people worldwide, attacks the lymphatic system, which is responsible for the body’s immunity and protects it from viruses, bacteria and other external threats. This type of cancer is considered rare and aggressive.
Actors Reynaldo Gianecchini, Edson Celulari, Jane Fonda and Michael C. Hall, former president Dilma, playwright Glória Perez and former governor of Rio de Janeiro Luiz Fernando Pezão also suffered from the same illness and recovered after treatment.
