In the days leading up to their massive argument over the end of their marriage, fans are now realizing that Sophie Turner has thrown shade at Joe Jonas with a subtle move on social media.
In a lawsuit filed by the “Game of Thrones” actress, who is suing the “Waffle House” singer to bring her two daughters back to England, Turner cites August 15, 2023 as the key date for the end of their relationship. According to court documents, Turner and Jonas had a heated argument that day – which also happened to be his 34th birthday – that led to the “failure” of their four-year marriage. Turner, 27, claims that things “happened very suddenly” and that she found out about the divorce, which Jonas filed on September 5, “through the media.”
But just two days before the fight that ended everything, Turner and Jonas seemed to be doing just fine. The X-Men: Dark Phoenix actress attended one of her husband’s Jonas Brothers The Tour dates in New York City and even posted about the outing on social media.
Turner shared a carousel of photos on Instagram at the time, the first of which shows her kissing her husband’s hand backstage. But now eagle-eyed fans are realizing that the group’s second photo may have held a clue to Turner’s true feelings that night.
The actress wore a pair of friendship bracelets, which she photographed and included in her film carousel. One of the friendship bracelets reads “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” which Swifties will recognize as one of Taylor Swift’s previously unreleased songs from her album Fearless. Swift released the track back in 2021 as part of a series of “From the Vault” tracks. As it turns out, the track was written in 2008 – the same year Swift briefly dated Joe Jonas, leading many fans to believe the song was about him.
The lyrics to “Mr. Perfectly Fine” shows Swift calling an ex after the breakup. “Hello sir, ‘Totally fine’ / How is your heart after it broke mine? / Mr. “Always in the right place at the right time,” baby / Hello Mr. “Casually Cruel” / Mr. “It’s all about you” / I’ve been Miss “Misery” since you left / And that’s you “Mr. ‘Perfectly Fine,'” she sings.
In the past, Turner has shown her support for the track – despite speculation that Swift wrote it to throw shade at her then-husband. “It’s not a slam dunk,” Turner wrote in an Instagram Story in 2021 after the track was released. Swift, for her part, responded, “Forever bending the knee [queen] of the North,” in reference to Turner’s role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones.
Today, it looks like the two are continuing to support each other after their experiences with the Jonas Brothers frontman. On September 19, 2023, just days after news of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ divorce made headlines, Swift was photographed spending time with Turner. In pictures obtained by Page Six, the 1989 artist and the HBO star were seen linking arms as they shared dinner.
According to a source who spoke to People, Turner had, all in all, a great night with Swift. “Sophie seemed to be enjoying the night,” the insider shared. “Taylor is a great friend – Sophie can talk to her about anything. Spending time with Taylor cheered Sophie up.”
