Coco Ferme will open the 26th Montreal International Children’s Film Festival (FIFEM) this Sunday, in the middle of spring break.
This new part of Tales for All, directed by Sébastien Gagné, will be shown during a special preview on February 19th at the Cinéma Beaubien and throughout the festival the following week. It is also part of the official FIFEM selection alongside the feature films “Jules au pays d’Asha” by Sophie Farkas Bolla and “Katak, le brave béluga” by Christine Dallaire-Dupont and Nicola Lemay.
The entire program includes more than 75 films of all genres from around twenty countries. A total of around 40 short and long films will be shown in cinemas until March 5, while the festival’s online platform makes 35 films accessible to families free of charge.
Jessica Barker is again at the head of the professional jury and will be accompanied by Michael Harbauer (Germany), Hélène Singer (New Caledonia) and Andrey Hadjivasilev (Bulgaria) as well as the children’s jury consisting of five young people aged between 11 and 12 years.
The jurors award the Grand Prix de Montréal for the best feature film in the competition, the prize for the best short film and the UDA Interpretation Prize for the best actress in a Quebec film. Moviegoers can also vote for the Audience Award 2023.
FIFEM will be presented in hybrid mode and will take place from February 25th to March 5th. Valérie Roberts is the godmother.
