The discovery of his friend and fellow musician Amos. memories

Tiziano Baldi Galleni June 17, 2022

STAZZEMA. Next week he was due to perform at the Il Guerriero pub in Pietrasanta with his Florentine friend Amos, with whom he formed the Krotali duo. His talent was his voice, but in addition to singing, Alessio Lombardi was also a very good guitarist and an excellent composer. Shortly thereafter he recorded his first solo album, because for several years he has been experiencing a kind of musical metamorphosis with which he wanted to return to the limelight. At the age of 51, however, an illness took him away forever: he died at his home in Terrinca, where he had only lived for a few years.

His friend and fellow musician Amos found him. She hadn’t heard him answer his cell phone in two days. So he went to Terrinca, saw that his car was home and knocked on the door several times. No one answered, so he asked a neighbor for a ladder and entered through a half-open window. He found Alessio on his stomach, apparently dead for a few days now.

Saying who Alessio was is another good friend of his, also a musician, Vincenzo Bramanti. Tomorrow night he will play with Francesco Mattei at the Louisiana Live Jam at the Due Laghi in Pietrasanta, a performance entirely dedicated to Alessio and Michele Leonardi, Pozzi’s drummer, who died a few days ago of an illness. Vincenzo had met him in the late ’80s playing with him at a concert in Campi Bisenzio and from then on they had become excellent friends and companions on musical adventures. “He was a great singer – he recalls – unfortunately poorly expressed for the potential he had. In recent years he had worked a lot on himself, in an innovative musical research that led him to a certain maturity, both vocally and compositionally ».

In September his dream of his own record would come true. Some songs were finished. Vincenzo as arranger and Sandro Paoli as producer would have supported him. “Unfortunately, this project will never go into the studio, but I always have material from pieces that he has played and sung, and I hope that somehow I can get them out to the people.” Before the Krotali, Alessio had formed another group, who consecrated him on site. It was called “The Chemical Solutions” (Litfiba rock style) and included Lorenzo Giannaccini on drums, Giovanni Grasso on bass and guitarist Campatelli. They made a couple of records that brought them some notoriety. While his very first band had been Lord Trempoline. “I must add – says Vincenzo – that he could not show the world this new version of his songwriter”.

Alessio was not only a great lover of singing and the guitar. He had also been a swimming instructor and had run a bathhouse in Cinquale with his brother Andrea (also a guitarist) for years, sold last year where he taught again and was a lifeguard. The funeral mass in memory of Alessio will take place today at 3 p.m. in the Pieve San Martino in La Cappella.
