Eddie Munson’s milestone in Stranger Things Season 4 is wrapped up by Master of Puppets

The second half of season 4 of stranger thingsbrought a defining moment for Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). The character climbed onto his own trailer with guitar and amp in The Upside Down to play a version of “Master of Puppets”. Metallica.
The act was part of the strategy to defeat vecna, which has an army of bats to defend itself. Lulled to the sound of the album’s title track Master of the Dolls(1986), Eddie scared away the demonic creatures from the villain.

Why did Eddie choose Metallica?
The choice of music reflects well the characteristics of the character who is a fan of thrash metal as Scrren Rant pointed out. Even so, there were other potential hits released in 1986, such as Van Halen’s “Dreams” and Europe’s “The Final Countdown.”
The text of “Master of Puppets” may have been decisive for the choice of the authors stranger things. James Hetfield, the band leader, talks about the loss of control and drug use in music. The dark verses match Upside Down’s menacing atmosphere.

“’Master of Puppets’ is about drugs. As things get turned on their head, drugs control you instead of you taking over and doing it,” the singer explained of the track in an interview with Trasher Magazine.
The struggle for control is also a recurring theme in the series, as is the group of Eddie attempts to maintain mastery of the upside down.
