Although this increase will translate into an increase of about one cent per can of beer and just over four cents per liter of wine, the Canada Revenue Agency calculates in addition to others.

In the case of the minimum beer price, the Régie des alcools, des Courses et des Jeux (RACJ) is responsible for indexing. The next increase will also be on April 1st and will be 6.8%.

For beers between 4.9% and 6.2% alcohol, such as Budweiser, Labatt Blue or Molson Dry, the reserve price increases by about $1.80 for a case of 24 cans, calculates Guy Leroux of the specialist website DepQuébec .com before.

The impact will be felt even more for products sold in bulk, such as B. Cases of 60 doses.

“The price will increase from $75.43 to $80.56 for popular brands like Budweiser,” notes Mr. Leroux.

Retailers often don’t sell beer at reserve price, but sometimes they do during promotions.

In the end, says Guy Leroux, this rise is the biggest “ever” because the RACJ uses Canadian inflation numbers to calculate it.

And consumers aren’t left out, as prices at the Société des alcools du Quebec (SAQ) have risen twice in the past year.

A first increase of 3.7% affected 2,550 products in May 2022. The second of 2.4% took place last November on 1,458 products.

The SAQ announced its financial results for the first nine months of the year on Monday.

The state-owned company is heading for a record dividend, which is currently 1.2 billion. Fourth quarter results will be announced in June.

In 2021-2022, the SAQ recorded a net income of 1.35 billion paid to the State of Quebec.
