Former minister Ciro Gomes commented on his Instagram profile about the case of the spread of fake news by a digital marketing agency that Mynd8responsible for the Choquei profile, which is in the police's sights due to its connection to the tragic death of a young woman who was the subject of rumors
The profile was questioned and investigated due to the suicide death of student Jéssica Canedo on Friday, December 22, after Choquei, which has more than 20 million followers, published false recordings of conversations between the student and the comedian Whinderson Nunes.
The girl's mother even publicly called for the fake prints to be deleted from the pages on social media, but this was met with ridicule from the page owner.
In the post, Ciro positions himself as a victim of what he calls digital militias: “As you all know, I was one of the prominent targets of these digital militias. I was and still am the victim of a significant amount of fake news, targeted by both Bolsonarists and PT members. This scenario highlights the ability of these groups to harm the democratic environment.”
According to Ciro, digital militias are “reputationdestroying machines and invariably with no punishment for those who create them, hire them and those who spread fake news.”
And PT?
The former governor of Ceará also draws attention to the agency's relations with PT activists:
“Several information already reported in the press leads us to suspect that some important figures in these militias have close ties to the PT and the federal government. It's no surprise to anyone who knows how the PT device works. Maintaining power requires anything from coordinated attacks on opponents to gross corruption.”
Ciro also referred to the former president's supporters Jair Bolsonaro (PL):
“Since much of what has been said about this terrible story comes from Bolsonarist groups that also have hands as dirty as the PT, it is all pushed into the trench of polarization and under the rug that covers both.”
The pedestrian also calls on the federal police to “interfere” in the investigation: “If digital militias are financed with public money (including from political parties), they must be investigated, identified and punished.”
