Sydney Sweeney reveals two family members weren’t prepared to see her in Euphoria

Sydney Sweeney made quite an impression on viewers in her role as Cassie on the HBO hit series Euphoria, but some members of her family were uncomfortable seeing her on screen at the beginning of the series.

The actress, who stars in new drama Reality about former NSA contractor Reality Winner, said in a preview clip that her father and grandfather were unprepared to see her in her role as a teenage girl dealing with themes like Sex, Drugs and Violence Battled by Sunday Today with Willie Geist.

“My mom was visiting me on set at the time, so she knew the story and I talked to her a lot about it – my dad didn’t know,” said the 25-year-old actress. “I didn’t prepare my father at all.”

The Emmy-nominated actress explained, “When I talk to my dad, it’s usually not about work, we talk like father-daughter talks.”

Apparently, none of these conversations touched on the facts about the lives of the characters in the often risqué drama.

“My grandma… she’s a huge supporter of mine.”

“Actually,” the White Lotus actress continued, “I usually take her all over the world to my various sets and make her an extra.”

Explaining why she was drawn to the role, she said: “I think I tend to lean towards characters that might read a page a certain way, and I like to find layers to those characters. “

“I think a lot of people could have looked at Cassie in a way that a lot of people who are sexualizing her on the show are looking at her a certain way.”

“Euphoria” has been renewed for a third season, and the Spokane native said Cassie will be doing more of her antics.

“I love playing Cassie because she was so crazy last season.”

“As an actor, it’s so much fun to just stretch your legs and go crazy and make all these crazy decisions. So I’m really looking forward to seeing what Cassie does in season three.”
