At around 3 p.m. local time (8 a.m. in Italy), Taiwan broadcast alerts on mobile phones about China's launch of a satellite that flew across the sky in the south of the island, warning citizens of the possible falling debris. A few moments later, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported “the successful launch of the Einstein Probe satellite.” Foreign Minister Joseph Wu's comment was harsh: “I would classify a launch at this very sensitive moment in our elections (the presidential election is on Saturday, editor's note) as an activity in China's 'grey zone' to involve Taiwan remember that there is such a “threat of war”.
