Taylor Swift fans launched a campaign on social media asking to broadcast a tribute to Christ the Redeemer the weekend of the singer’s performances in Rio de Janeiro.

The artist will perform from Friday (17) to Sunday (19) in Engenhão, North Zone of Rio. Last week it was the turn of the Mexican band RBD to perform on stage.

The Eras Tour is one of the most anticipated postTaylor tours by the public, and now fans want to see a Junior Jewels jersey projected onto the memorial.

The matter had such a strong response on social media that Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes responded and suggested that the request be forwarded to Father Omar, who manages the place.

“I will ask dear Father Omar if we can get this tribute. He is the guy who runs the projections at Christ the Redeemer,” Paes wrote.

However, g1 sought advice from Christ the Savior, who explained that personal desires are not fulfilled, but that this can be done through a legal entity: be it the town hall or the singer’s council.

Father Omar confirmed this alternative on social media and said he accepted the request with great joy.

Taylor will sing at Engenhão on three consecutive days: from Friday to Sunday, the gates open at 4 p.m.

The performances, which begin at 7:30 p.m., are sold out. Initially she was only supposed to perform on Saturday, but two additional dates were canceled because tickets were sold out.

The safety of the area has been called into question after scenes of trawlers marking the departure of performances by Mexican band RBD last weekend.

The mayor used the topic, saying it served to “remind the Swifties.” [fãs da cantora] that the town hall has no power over the police.” The military police have not yet announced the police program in the area for the days of the fair.

However, Paes did not say whether he will formalize the request for the honor, as the curator of Christ the Redeemer had requested.
