During a pit stop at the Toronto Film Festival, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, SAG-AFTRA’s National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator, announced that the concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour”, which is slated to open for $70-100 million, a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.

Indiewire’s Anne Thompson, who moderated the discussion, asked Crabtree-Ireland if he should be worried about this new hit, which is simmering at the box office.

He had a very polite answer:

“Taylor and her team came to us. … The only way she could do it is the right way,” he said. “We look forward to everyone stopping by.”

As Deadline mentioned, the AMC-distributed Taylor Swift film hits theaters on October 13th; She’s not on tour. Therefore, it won’t be a surprise to see any PR stunts on her behalf during the release of the picture.

We’re hearing that the pre-sale of the Taylor Swift concert film is well over $50 million in the top 3 outlets as of this writing. This number has not been officially announced by AMC.

Many films are out of the way in the theatrical release calendar and see the Taylor Swift concert film as a Marvel typhoon. One of the big turning points came with Universal’s reboot of The Exorcist, which was originally scheduled for October 13 and now premieres on October 6.

Today the A24 release of “Priscilla” has been pushed back from October 27th to November 3rd, the “last” weekend of the Taylor Swift concert. “Last” in the sense that word has gotten out that theater chains can play it longer.
