The South Florida Police Department has issued a statement asking for help identifying the group of attackers who assaulted rapper Teskashi 6ix9ine on March 21 in the bathroom of a South Florida gym and left him in the hospital.
The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was recorded being attacked by a group of assailants and leaving the gym bloodied and with bruises on his face. The day after the attack, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office released an official statement confirming details and requesting information about the attack.
“Last night our deputies responded to an incident at LA Fitness (8000 Block of Lantana Rd) in Lake Worth,” read the statement sent to them Twitter reads. “An altercation broke out between several people who left [6ix9ine] Daniel Hernandez injured. Hernandez was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.”
“If you have any information, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS or remain anonymous by downloading the PBSO app for Apple or Android,” the note concludes.
While no details have been confirmed or linked, there has been multiple speculation that the attacks are related to the rapper’s 2020 plea with federal officials to jail his gang members. In 2019, Hernandez was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison on nine counts, including racketeering, drug trafficking and firearms offenses, related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang. He faced at least 47 years in the trial but struck a plea deal and exchanged his testimony for the light sentence.
Hernandez was arrested on felony charges prior to his 2019 run-in with the law while performing his 2018 album Dummy alongside notable collaborators Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Gunna, Anuel AA and others on the Billboard Charts up boy.”
