Tens of thousands of X users report a global outage

Tens of thousands of global users of X (formerly Twitter) reported problems using billionaire Elon Musk's social network on Thursday, monitoring site Downdetector reported.

“User reports indicate issues on X (Twitter),” the site said, adding that reports increased just before 0600 GMT.

The platform's news feeds were empty and no new tweets were visible, although the website twitter.com was available and the spaces feature was visible.

Unable to post on X, social media users reported the incident to competitors like Facebook, Threads and Reddit.

Shortly after 06:40 GMT, the platform resumed service to users in several countries.

At the height of the incident, Downdetector reported that around 67,000 US users had reported problems.

The incident also affected X Pro, formerly known as TweetDeck.

There was no immediate comment from X and no indication of the cause of the incident.

X is currently facing headwinds, including a European investigation into alleged violations of European content moderation and transparency rules.

The platform has also come under criticism for its response to the recent unrest in Dublin.

Downdetector also reported a major outage on X in February that affected thousands of users.
