China condemns provocations by Taiwan and the United States

China announced on Sunday that it had carried out Sea and air “strike exercises” in Taiwan in response to what he described as a provocation by Taipei and the United States. As is usual in the circumstances, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry pointed out that planes were deployed to warn Chinese planes whose route was being monitored by anti-aircraft systems.

Several Chinese fighters briefly crossed the Taiwan Strait demarcation line, a map released by the ministry in Taipei shows. Seven Chinese naval ships were also spotted near the island, he said. China has stepped up diplomatic, military and economic pressure on Taiwan in recent years to force the island back into its fold. Taiwan’s government says it wants peace but is ready to defend itself.
