Tesla owner says he had to cancel Christmas plans because car wouldn’t charge in freezing weather

T3 Trading Group Chief Strategist Scott Redler and Sarge986 President Stephen Guilfoyle reveal which blue-chip stocks they’re buying as the bear market continues in The Claman Countdown.

A Virginia radio personality said he had to cancel Christmas plans because his Tesla S electric car would not charge during the prolonged freezing weather that has ravaged much of the United States.

Domenick Nati told Insider that he connected his electric car to a supercharger on Friday when it was 19 degrees outside. The battery level of the car was at 40% at this point.

“Two hours have passed and not much has changed,” Nati told the outlet. “It was very slow and the numbers got lower as the temperature dropped. Eventually it stopped charging altogether.”

Nati said he tried charging the car at home, but having no luck there, he went to another Supercharger on Saturday afternoon.

Nati posted a video on TikTok on Saturday showing what happened, noting that the same thing had happened the day before.

“Battery is heating up – leave the charging cable plugged in,” said the Supercharger display when it was plugged in. More than an hour later, however, nothing has changed, he said. Nati said he eventually decided to leave the car connected and be driven home.

Fox Business reached out to Tesla for comment, but they didn’t immediately respond.

Nati said he tried to contact Tesla for customer support but no one answered him. He told Insider that he ultimately canceled his vacation plans because his car only had a 19-mile range at the time and there were no available Uber or Lyft drivers. He feared that because of this he would not be able to see his son on Christmas morning.

On Sunday morning, Nati told Fox Business that he still hadn’t heard from Tesla and that his car still wouldn’t charge. He said he’s heard from others who have had similar experiences.

Gerber Kawasaki CEO Ross Gerber has told The Claman Countdown that he will run for a seat on Tesla’s board of directors after Elon Musk attacked him on Twitter.

“Since I posted the video, a lot of people have mentioned that they have the same problem. Some Tesla owners have even messaged me to see if I’ve found a solution,” Nati told Fox Business. “Unfortunately, my answer is no.”
