In his address to members of trade unions and social groups, the Minister of Economy also highlighted the concerted efforts being made to prevent workers from continuing to pay contributions for what they received during their working days.

The representative of the Unión por la Patria alliance for the parliamentary elections of October 22 thanked the members of the labor movement, numerous organizations, the national economy, small and medium-sized companies, deputies and senators for their support of the initiative, signed into law last night.

The aim is to exempt almost 700,000 dependent employees from tax liability for what they earn through their work.

In addition, it provides for the introduction of a tax on high incomes for those whose salaries are more than 15 times the minimum, living and mobile wages (118,000 Argentine pesos, i.e. 323 dollars).

In this way, only about 80,000 managers, company directors, privileged pensioners or beneficiaries of high-income companies will pay this tax.

This is a fundamental step toward fixing the flaws in our economy and the income redistribution system. “It’s a topic I’ve been raising for more than a decade: salary is not profit, it’s compensation,” he explained.

On the other hand, he recalled that the decision was recently taken to return VAT on the basic basket of food and hygiene and household products, a measure that has already benefited more than 12.5 million people.

To make this advantage permanent, we have submitted a project to Congress. “I ask that we mobilize to get approval,” he said.

We have the responsibility to build a new era. Rest assured that on December 10, when God and all of you give me the grace to be President of the Republic, I will convene a unity government, because first comes the country, then the movement and finally the men, he noted.

Massa pointed out that in three weeks the future of Argentina will be defined and citizens will decide whether they want to build a country with rights or return to the past.

“I ask for all the energy, commitment and determination to go house to house and declare that the worst is over and that we will rein in the International Monetary Fund to stop imposing conditions that lead us to inflation,” he assured.

In addition, he reiterated his commitment to job creation as a value of social advancement, free, quality public education, and dialogue to solve problems.

I dream that this will be the first of many holidays we can share. A new and great time lies ahead for the country. I want all the good Argentinians on the boat. Lots of strength to fight until victory, victory is near, he concluded.
