The Armada sank through a difficult third period

Despite a hat-trick by Josh Lawrence, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada lost 5-8 to the Wildcats in Moncton on Sunday.

Lawrence finished the game with four points, as did Jonathan Fauchon, who added four assists to his record. Alexis Gendron and captain Brayden Schmitt were the visitors’ other scorers.

The Armada drew the game 5-5 early in the third period, but their opponents then scored four unanswered goals. Miles Mueller scored a brace, especially in the last third, as did his teammate Alexis Daniel before him.

It is therefore the third loss in as many games during this trip to the Maritimes for the Armada, who will return to the comfort of the Sports Rousseau Center of Excellence on Thursday.

The Foreurs regain victory

The Val-d’Or Foreurs ended a four-game losing streak by beating the Olympiques 6-2 at Gatineau.

Thomas Larouche broke a 2-2 draw in the second half and the Foreurs then made sure they built enough advantage to avoid a second comeback from their rivals.

Larouche eventually hit the target twice in that game. Nathan Drapeau, Tomas Cibulka, Alexandre Doucet and Justin Robidas also flashed the red light.

William Blackburn saved 34 of the 36 shots he faced in the win.

The two teams will meet again on Friday, this time in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

In summary

In Halifax, the Mooseheads served up a 7-0 correction against the Saint John Sea Dogs. Jordan Dumais shone with three goals, as did Mathis Rousseau, who made his first-ever shutout in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with 23 saves.
