Audiences love The Beekeeper so much that the film has set a new record for its director.
On Rotten Tomatoes, “The Beekeeper” received mostly positive, if somewhat mixed, reviews, debuting with a 67% “fresh” rating on the Tomatometer. The audience rating was significantly higher, is currently 92% fresh. This is officially the one Highest audience rating on the review aggregator site of any film directed by David Ayer. This is followed by End of Watch (86%), Fury (84%), Bright (83%) and The Tax Collector (72%), with these titles each making up the top 5. Ayer's polarizing Suicide Squad film is much more mixed, pulling in a 58% audience rating.

Audiences enjoy The Beekeeper more than critics, although there are some reviews that praise the film. Chris Bumbray of JoBlo's Movie Network said the film was “much, much better than you think.
