The team’s general manager, Don Sweeney, has to cut his payroll. He has about $6.2 million in play ahead of the upcoming campaign and Jeremy Swayman is a restricted free agent. Then the intentions of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci without a contract have yet to be clarified. Both men could retire from professional hockey.
Ullmark has a two-year contract and will earn an average of $5 million. Last season, he had a 40-6-1 record with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.
