Motorist’s columnist Antoine Joubert, driving through Las Vegas at the edge of Las Vegas Motor Speedway, spotted the McLaren Artura 2023, a sports car with a rechargeable hybrid engine.
To reduce weight and increase structural rigidity, McLaren selected materials accordingly. “We use a new carbon fiber shell, while the ends of the frame are aluminum. The panels are made of extruded aluminium,” explains Antoine.
Powerful and fast
” [Cette McLaren] has a biturbo V6 and an electric motor placed between the petrol engine and the new sequential eight-speed gearbox,” says Antoine. The performance amounts to 671 hp and the exercise from 0 to 100 km/h is done in just 3.0 seconds.
Its 7.4 kWh battery enables an all-electric range of 19 miles (around 30 kilometers). “I was able to do exactly 18 miles – on the road – in 100% electric mode before switching to hybrid mode,” specifies the journalist.

Surprisingly agile
Weighing in at 1,495 kg, Antoine is amazed at the agility on the track. ” [Elle] is incredibly agile and easy to drive on the track.” He says the torque vectoring, performance tires Pirelli P Zero Corsa and short wheelbase contribute to the exotic’s playful demeanor.

The situation is similar on the street. “It’s a surprisingly quiet and nimble car. There are different driving modes to modify the driving experience,” he points out. In fact, the four modes change a number of parameters like the suspension.
On board, Antoine notes that the cabin has been updated thanks to a new center console with a 10-inch screen tilted towards the pilot. Certain amenities also come automatically, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
