The turkey is in the oven, the lights on the tree are twinkling, and at some point the drinks are flowing freely while used wrapping paper is strewn on the floor.
Politics will be the last thing on most Americans' minds this Christmas.
But as the decorations come down and the holidays come to an end, the nation will brace for a brutal 11-month campaign ahead of the general election.
In 21 days, the focus will shift from Christmas carols to caucuses as Republican candidates take on Iowa in the battle for the 2024 presidential nomination.
Millions will be looking for answers to the question of which candidate they think is best for the job. Can they fix the economy? Can they manage the border? Will they protect us from national security threats?
The polls have addressed many of these issues and shown how well voters believe Republicans and Democrats can handle each of these issues.
But one crucial (albeit festive) attribute was left out: Would it be better to celebrate Christmas with Joe Biden or Donald Trump?
has the answers.
American voters have given their verdict on whether they would prefer a Joe Biden or Donald Trump-style Christmas
The majority of Americans would rather spend Christmas with Trump, according to a poll that covered a wide range of topics.
The poll of 1,000 voters, conducted by JL Partners, found that voters would prefer Trump to be involved in many aspects of the celebrations, including preparing Christmas dinner, choosing the family movie and giving gifts.
The Donald, known as an entertainer and for his DJ skills and with his palatial Mar-a-Lago estate, is considered the better host.
Voters were also convinced that he would be a guest: 47 percent said they would invite him to their home.
As for Biden, Americans consider the 81-year-old grandfather to be more neighborly than his potential rival in 2024 and would trust him to take care of their home when they leave on vacation.
In general, Biden's polls have been disastrous in recent months, continually raising questions about his prospects in 2024.
A year-end tally gave him the lowest approval rating of any modern president, even fellow Democrat Jimmy Carter.
Gallup's latest tracking number, released Friday, puts Biden's job approval rating at 39 percent, two points higher than the lows in October and November.
This is worse than the last seven presidents in history who were ending their third year in power.
's Christmas poll also broke down by party affiliation.
Not surprisingly, Republican voters overwhelmingly said they would prefer to include Trump in their plans, while Democrats wanted Biden at every opportunity.

When asked who belongs on the list of naughty and nice Santas, the results were more mixed.
In both cases, Trump was voted over, perhaps reflecting his numerous criminal charges and his dominance in the polls in the Republican primaries.
36 percent of Democrats see Trump at the top of their list of naughty voters, followed by his Republican primary rival Ron DeSantis in second place at 6 percent.
Nearly half of Republicans (47 percent) believed Biden deserved a piece of coal the most this year, ahead of Hillary Clinton in second place at 10 percent.
Joe Alder, senior research associate at JL Partners, said: “These results reflect the strengths and weaknesses of the Donald Trump and Joe Biden brands.
“Trump is viewed by many as energetic, vital and funny – so it is no surprise that he is the average American’s chosen Christmas guest.”
“For better or worse, he is also seen as rich – the successful man of commerce – which likely explains the public's 14-point preference for Trump over Biden as the man to give them a gift this Christmas.”

“However, while Trump can be seen as corrupt and unscrupulous, Biden’s personality is more neighborly.”
“That’s why it’s Biden, not Trump, who Americans would tell would take care of their house if they were outside.”
“In other words, how the public perception of these executives at Christmas reflects how they understand their characters: the boisterous businessman and the sparkling grandfather.”
