Madrid, September 21 – Cuban singer Annie Garcés will perform today in Valencia, Spain, as part of a tour of four other cities, showcasing her repertoire of new trova and her children’s musical creations.

The young artist, accompanied by guitarist Eduardo Corcho, will also take part in discussions about the role of culture and youth in the face of the island’s current challenges, reported the José Martí Valencian Association of Friendship with Cuba, which organized the tour.

Garcés, who is a deputy in the Cuban Parliament, and Corcho will also give concerts in three other Valencian cities: Buñol on Saturday 23rd, Alicante on Sunday 24th and Alfas del Pi on Tuesday 26th.

His stay in Spain ends on Saturday September 30th in Madrid as part of an evening with troubadours from the island at the Cuban Corner at the Festival of the Communist Party of Spain in Rivas Vaciamadrid.

The popular event, known as the Mundo Obrero Festival, which brings together thousands of people from Spain’s left-wing and progressive forces, will take place from Friday October 29th to Sunday October 1st.

Among its various activities are those dedicated to Cuba and, in particular, denouncing the bitter economic war that Washington is waging against the island.

In Buñol, the singer-songwriter will also be accompanied by the Sociedad Musical La Artística at the Teatro Montecarlo and in Alfas del Pi she will give a special concert of children’s music at the Espai Culturale Escoles Velles, according to the organizers.

The Valencian Association of Friendship with Cuba José Martí invited Garcés and Corcho as part of the cultural exchange between the Cuban and Valencian people and as part of the actions to raise awareness of the Cuban reality among the Spanish public.

Garcés, who is also a flautist, presenter, and radio and television presenter, will exhibit her artistic work, including her own works and classics of Cuban music, as well as her children’s songs.
