Prague, February 18 (Prensa Latina) Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský will attend the meeting of European Union (EU) Foreign Ministers in Brussels this Monday with a broad regional and international agenda, according to local press.
The talks in the Belgian capital will cover three fundamental topics: the situation in Ukraine, the clashes in the Middle East and the EU's commitment to solving problems in Africa's Sahel region, Radio Prague International said.
In addition, the diplomatic chiefs of the 27 members of the bloc are expected to address the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip in Brussels, where Israeli bombings left at least 28,800 dead and more than 68,600 injured.
Foreign ministers will discuss the contentious issue of the Ukraine conflict shortly after Russian troops took control of the strategic town of Avdeevka near Donetsk, the capital of the self-proclaimed republic of the same name.
In recent weeks, the EU has been at the center of internal disputes over a consensus on 50 billion euros in financial aid to Ukraine to finance its economy and arms supplies.
The confrontation, which began two years ago after President Vladimir Putin ordered a war operation to protect the rebel region of Donbas and to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, led to a surge in defense spending by European countries.
Finally, Hungary lifted its veto on the aid package for Kiev, but set conditions for the release of Community entity funding to the Magyar state.
For some analysts, the discussion of the Levant conflict will be important because some states, such as France, have openly called on Israel to end its military actions in Gaza, where more than one and a half million people have been forced to leave their homes.
