Havana, April 18 (ACN) The 26th edition of the International dance festival in urban landscapes Old Havana: city in motion It will take place in this capital from April 22nd to 24th.
The event promotes the art of dance in everyday spaces such as Havana’s streets, squares and parks and, according to Director General Isabel Bustos, is a way to support the culture of the historic center through contemporary dance of a high artistic level.
Bustos stressed today at a press conference that for the occasion, residents and visitors of the capital have high expectations for the festival, since its development has been halted for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of particular importance for the 2022 edition are the celebrations of the 35th anniversary of the Danza Teatro Retazos, directed by Bustos himself.
Regarding the organization of the conclave, Eugenio Chávez, its coordinator, explained that there will be two variants of participation: a virtual modality and another face-to-face.
With the label #FestivalCallejero2022 you can see the presentations via social networks, he said.
The Plaza de Armas, the Las Carolinas Garden, the Diversity Hall, the Center for Youth Spaces and Habana Espacios Creativos will be the chosen facilities for the personal shows, he specified.
He added that sites like the Cuban Art Factory and the San Jose Old Warehouses Cultural Center would be attending the event.
Chávez confirmed that the 26th edition of Habana Vieja: Ciudad en Movimiento includes as a special feature the Comunidad Danzante 2022 project, which brings together community dance companies such as the Dandys de Belén to strengthen the rescue of neighborhood identities.
The program also includes presentations by renowned dance groups and other newcomers, coming mainly from different provinces of Cuba and from Mexican and Colombian countries.
Renowned choreographers, including Rosario Cárdenas, Susana Pous and Johannes García, will hold master classes at the headquarters of the Danza Teatro Retazo, Chávez said.

The trip also includes a theoretical session with teachers and creators linked to the Faculty of Dance Arts of the University of the Arts and the intervention of Silvina Szperling, an Argentine teacher who directs the VideodanzaBA festival, he explained.
The 16th International Festival of Video Dance DV Danza Habana.Movimiento y Ciudad will be held with audiovisual projections dedicated to the art of dance and its most outstanding representatives at continental and world level.
Old Havana: City in Motion has been held annually in historic downtown Havana since 1996 and is part of the International Circuit of Cities that Dance.
