Santo Domingo, March 31 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) announced today that it will request the Chamber of Deputies to interpellate the Director General of the Social Program Supérate, Gloria Reyes, and other officials.
The decision was announced this Thursday at a press conference at the headquarters of this political organization in this capital, attended by several members of the Political Committee: Johny Pujols, Winston Santos and Frank Olivares, together with Enid Gil of the Minister for Social Inclusion and Claudia Rita Abreu , Gender Equality and Equity
A statement read by Pujols said: “We announce that in the coming days our MPs will present an appeal to those responsible for social protection programs to come forward and explain how they will solve the Supérate program disaster and the Instituto National Student Welfare (Inabie)”.
Likewise, the document pointed out that Reyes must convincingly explain “the greatest scam in the history of social programs,” referring to an infamous Superate Card scam that helps the poorest, which is being questioned by society. .
He also specified that Inabie must be held accountable in the face of the administrative disaster, the corruption scandals due to irregular applications and the apparent deterioration of this institution’s programs.
The party leader said it was time to provide answers, to provide certainty in the face of the crisis and “the PLD will stand with the people, expose the lies of this government and help build our position, despite the situation a better future.” for all Dominicans.
For his part, Santos expressed concern about the deterioration and decline in social investment by the current leadership of the Modern Revolutionary Party, rather than expanding the welfare state.
Finally, Olivares argued that the measures taken by this party when it was in power to mitigate the economic impact of the pandemic saved 600,000 people from falling into poverty.
