A possible kidnapping of two girls, ages three and five, occurred Thursday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade County.
For several hours, a large police operation was recorded near the 4700 block and 87 square in Westchester.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m., authorities reported that the woman and the two girls were found safe and sound two miles from where the possible kidnapping was reported.
The investigation of the case passed into the hands of the FBI.
The event that caused alarm in the community happened just half a block from Southwest Miami High School.
Police said around 2:30pm Thursday they had received a call from a home about an incident involving a woman and two children, initially described as the possible kidnapping of a nanny and two minors.
The street was demarcated with yellow tape and several police cars and a crime scene truck came to the scene. The investigation lasted all night.
The authorities emphasized that the three women were out of danger. No names or other information were given, except that the adult was the little ones’ nanny.
So far nobody has been arrested.
Any citizen with information regarding this event is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
