Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the country faces a war on six fronts that goes well beyond the confrontation with the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“I’m saying this in the clearest way possible. Anyone who acts against us as a potential target will not have immunity,” Gallant said.
He stated this in a speech to Parliament's Defense Committee on Tuesday, December 26th.
According to the minister, Israel continues to fight not only in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, Palestinian territory outside Hamas' control, but also in Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen and Iraq.
“We are in a war on multiple fronts, under attack from seven theaters: Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria [Cisjordânia]Iraq, Yemen and Iran. We have already responded and taken action in six of these locations,” Gallant said.
In addition to the Palestinian territories, all of the countries mentioned are involved in some form in the conflict between Tel Aviv and Hamas.
Lebanon is home to Hezbollah, which has officially been at war with Israel since the terror group was founded in the 1980s.

Syria, whose regime is led by Bashar alAssad, and Iraq, which like much of the Middle East does not recognize Israel's sovereignty, served as a stage and corridor for attacks on Tel Aviv.
The Houthi rebels in Yemen, despite living far away in the south of the Arabian Peninsula, also claim attacks on Israel.
