(CNN Spanish) – For the first time in its history, the Latin Grammys are leaving the United States. This Wednesday it was announced that the awards ceremony will be held for the first time in Spain, in the region of Andalusia in the south of the country.
The information was released by Juan Manuel Moreno, President of the Junta de Andalucía, at a press conference.
“Andalucia will host two major concerts this year starting in September and will host Latin Grammy Week in November. A week of high-level activities with at least eight major music events that will end with the awards ceremony. A week in which the most important stars of Latin American music will shine precisely in Andalusia,” said Moreno.
In the same press conference, Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, said: “Having the Latin Grammy come out of the United States for the first time is cause for special celebrations and what better place than in Andalusia with exceptional hosts”.

The Latin Recording Academy confirmed the news to CNN en Español, saying Seville could be the city where the ceremony will take place.
“We are considering Seville as the host city for the 24th annual Latin Grammy Awards this November, but we are still working out production details with our partner TelevisaUnivision,” Abud said in the statement shared with the chain.
Traditionally, the Latin Grammys, which have been awarded since 2000, have been held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Other cities like Miami or New York have hosted the awards in the past.
In an interview with Zona Pop CNN in September 2022, Abud expected this year’s ceremony could have a surprising goal.
“It is not certain that we will remain in Las Vegas for many years. There were several cities that came our way that we are analyzing very carefully. It’s not safe at all, but what I can tell you is that while Las Vegas will be our home this year (2022), it won’t necessarily be for the next few,” Abud told CNN’s Pop Zone.
In the past, Seville has hosted awards of international standing. In 2019, the city hosted the MTV European Music Awards.
