The “maple syrup heist of the century”: Guillaume Cyr in the English-language series “The Sticky” on Prime Video

Guillaume Cyr stars in the English language series The Sticky, which tells the story of the “maple syrup heist of the century” that occurred in Quebec in 2011, an Amazon Studios work with which Jamie Lee Curtis is credited as producing, who just won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

The Léo comedian will star alongside American actress Margo Martindale and Ontario native Chris Diamantopoulos.

The series is produced by Blumhouse Television, Megamix, Comet Pictures and Sphère Média. It will be available in 240 countries and territories through the Prime Video platform.

Twelve years ago, 70% of the world’s maple syrup supplies were stolen, valued at about $18 million. This is what this English series tells about.

Directed by Michael Dowse (Goon: Badass, Stuber) and Joyce Wong (Spencer Sisters, Sort of), the film will be shot in and around Montreal.

Summary

“’The Sticky’ tells the story of Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale), a badass, highly skilled maple syrup producer who is tired of being stifled by her country’s polite and bureaucratic conventions. This bureaucracy threatens to take away everything she loves: her farm, her husband and her right to freedom. With the help of Remy Bouchard (Guillaume Cyr), a rather gentle security guard, and Mike Byrne (Chris Diamantopoulos), a petty gangster, Ruth will change her fortunes and change the future of her community with the theft of millions of dollars in maple syrup”, Amazon Studios said in a statement on Wednesday.

Prime Video Canada productions include LOL: Who will have the last laugh?, Nuit blanche (coming soon) and The Village of Three Pines.
