Currently, there is a base salary of $7.25 per hour in the United States of America. But in most states across the country, they have set different salaries depending on their respective laws.
Specifically, in Illinois, workers over the age of 18 receive an hourly wage of $13.00. Employees under this age may be charged up to $10.50 per hour.
Residents over 18 have access to 60% of their salary for tips, which is $7.80. Young people who are under 18 also receive 60% of their income from additional income. This value equates to $6.30 per hour.
The salary increase is anchored in law
The numbers change over the years. In February 2019, a law was passed to increase the state minimum wage. This legislative proposal increased the salary to $9.25 starting January 1, 2020.
At the beginning of the second semester of the same year, payments increased to $10.00. A new compensation of $11.00 began on the first day of the first month of 2021. For the last year, fees were set at $12.00
Starting January 1 of next year, the minimum wage will increase to $14.00 per hour. A payout of $15.00 is expected in 2025.
Chicago is the most populous city in Illinois and has the highest salary in the state. This city is paying $15.40 an hour in work centers with 21 workers this year. Businesses with fewer than 21 employees earn a salary of $14.50 and residents under 18 earn $12.00.
