Time trial stage of the Vuelta
16.15, The 2nd
The tenth stage of the Vuelta today features an individual time trial. A 25 kilometer long route that has only a small hill in the first part and mostly leads along wide avenues through Valladolid. The specialists against the clock should try to take advantage of the pure newcomers.
“Hannah and her sisters”
7 p.m., Movistar Classics
Hannah and her sisters. USA, 1986 (102 minutes). Director: Woody Allen. Cast: Woody Allen, Michael Caine, Mia Farrow, Dianne Wiest, Barbara Hershey.
Woody Allen had made a fake documentary reconstruction one after the other, Zelig; a tribute to veteran Broadway comedian Danny Rose and a hymn to the magic of cinema, The Purple Rose of Cairo. He was eager to return to the New York asphalt, where he would immerse himself in a new masterpiece that depicts the loving and existential conflicts of three sisters faced with fears, infidelity and hopes. Yes, Allen uses the same basketwork as in most of his works, but with a dramatic ability that permeates the entire script and with a staging that enhances each image to fill it with meaning.

“The Big Test”
11 p.m., TCM
Friendly persuasion. USA, 1956 (132 minutes). Directed by: William Wyler. Cast: Gary Cooper, Dorothy MacGuire, Marjorie Main, Anthony Perkins, Richard Eyer.
A Quaker family refuses to give up their identity: the American Civil War surrounds them, but their beliefs prevent them from participating in the war. With this plot basis, the great William Wyler draws an excellent drama full of lyricism. From today’s perspective, their characters may seem naive and perhaps straight out of a play, not very accessible to the viewer, but the actors’ warm interpretations manage to make them relatable and endearing.
