The Shawinigan Cataractes scored five straight goals to defeat the Quebec Remparts 6-2 on Friday night at the Gervais Auto Center.
The game started well for the Red Devils. Justin Duval hit the mark in the second minute of the game.
However, the Remparts didn’t have the lead for long as the crowd favorite equalized just 11 seconds later. The Cataractes didn’t stop there and led by a goal in the third minute of the first period.
Kody Dupuis and Nathan Éthier each scored two goals. The second also provided an assist. It was his first three-point game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, as he has been playing there since the 2021–2022 season.
Maxim Barbashev also stood out for being involved in two of his teammates’ successes. The Cataractes’ other goals came from Alexis Bonefon and Thomas Hébert.
Goalkeeper Rémi Delafontaine made 18 saves in the win. His counterpart, Louis-Antoine Denault, fended off 27 of the 33 pucks sent his way.
It is the second defeat in a row for the Remparts. They will look to return to victory on Sunday when the Chicoutimi Saguenéens visit the Videotron Center.
