The Laval Rocket had slipped to bottom in their division after back-to-back losses but bounced back with flying colors as they beat the Manitoba Moose 4-1 at the Canada Life Center on Sunday.
This win allows Jean-François Houle’s squad to overtake the Belleville Senators, sixth in the American Hockey League’s North Division.
Goaltender Cayden Primeau added a chapter to his rollercoaster campaign by shining on 31 of the Winnipeg Jets’ 32 tries.
A four-minute penalty awarded to Joel Teasdale for a high stick in the third period opened the door for the Moose’s only success. Dominic Toninato found the back of the net.
Quebec defender Nicolas Beaudin played an integral role in the Laval team’s victory. The Chicago Blackhawks first-round pick had three assists, giving him 20 points in 33 games with the Rocket.
His compatriot William Trudeau opened the scoring midway through the middle section by jumping on a throw. A few minutes later, Teasdale doubled his lead after capitalizing on a great pass from Anthony Richard in a massive attack.
Tough guy Nolan Yaremko also added his two cents when his pass deflected past striker Kristian Reichel’s skate and landed behind goalkeeper Arvid Holm.
Emil Heineman completed the goal into the empty goal.
On Tuesday, the Moose have an opportunity to avenge their loss when Rocket visits them again.
