The Sandman and Lock & Key in the top 10 Netflix: Did you know about the crossover? Everyeye TV series

Both series based on comics, both dark fantasy series, both now in top 10 Netflix series. The Sandman before and lock & key then they make excellent numbers and scores from audiences and critics. But many may be unaware of the crossover event that has sprung up between the two, even if not on the small screen.

Just landed Netflixthe series based on the comics by Neil Gaimann and directly monitored by him step by step, he achieves a success that can immediately silence any concern about the risks of such an adaptation. This success gave the various members of the cast and crew the freedom to propose their respective wish lists: actor Boyd Holbrook is already a candidate as the next Joker and villain of 007 – who awaits the mysterious role in Indiana Jones 5 – while the same Gaiman is pushing for a spin-off from The Sandman’s Johanna Constantine. But as far as the Netflix landscape goes, The Sandman isn’t the only series currently on top 10.

The other is lock & keywhich just last crossed with The Sandman with a Crossover event in comics. Although the second ended in 1996 and the original Locke & Key saga ran from 2008 to 2013, the stories continued to be told in their respective canons. Meanwhile, IDW Publishing has released a series of Locke & Key prequels known collectively as The Golden Age. The last of these prequels, Hell & Gone, set generations before the events of the main series Locke & Key, was a cross-company crossover tied to The Sandman mythologies. It focused on Chamberlin Locke and his children during their time as residents of Keyhouse Manor.

In 1927 Chamberlin is aging and has not yet gotten over the death of his son John. The boy had committed suicide 12 years earlier and Chamberlin continued to torment himself to summon him an echo of John’s soul from hellwhere he is tortured. Mary Locke, John’s sister, decides to change the situation and sets out to save John from Hell. So he goes to theOccultist Roderick Burgesswho captured Morpheus in the Gaiman series. So the crossover is made possible narratively because Mary is willing to do it Ask the god of dreams for advice to free John.
