The technique that ensures the functioning of the Flying carsor eVTOLs (Electric Vertical TakeOff and Landing Aircraft acronym), is gaining momentum — prompting other industries to invest in the trend as well. So the first “vertiport”.

The expression (in English vertport) is based on the launch model of these new aircraft. The first development of its kind opened this week in Coventry, UK. nicknames Vertiport Air Oneit is intended for cars and flying taxis and autonomous delivery drones, among others, reports the News.Au portal.

According to Ricky Sandhu, founder of UrbanAir Port, the company that built the space, the opening is an important step for urban aviation. “This is the beginning of a new era of zerocarbon, zerocongestion transport in cities that will make people healthier, happier and more connected,” he said in a statement.

The delivery of the vertiport took 15 months, from the project outline to the opening. For Sandhu, the facility sets standards worldwide as the first airport for eVTOLs. He says that as demand increases, more releases and models are on the way.

There are already plans to install Vertiports in London, the West Midlands (England) and Los Angeles (USA), as well as cities in Australia, South Korea, France, Germany and Scandinavia.
