Panama City, July 25 (Prensa Latina) Simón Bolívar’s thoughts and actions remain valid today, as highlighted in the messages and the commemoration in Panama of the Liberator’s 240th birthday.
The Bolivarian Society of Panama West, headed by Robinson Hernández, pointed out in a statement that the date of July 24 marks the personality of a leader responsible for running one of the gigantic enterprises of his time, fighting for the independence of these countries and their peoples.
The idea of a united America in one great homeland is part of the commitment of today’s generations, as expressed on the eve of the anniversaries the day before in the city of La Chorrera, capital of western Panama.
At the ceremony, Venezuelan embassy chargé d’affaires Jhanett Madriz indicated that the challenge ahead is to return to the nation that was America, Bolívar’s dream, and that it is up to young people to drive that commitment forward.
At the act, which was attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions of Cuba, Russia and Indonesia, students from the El Coco bilingual school recalled epic phrases from the liberator, highlighting his legacy as a politician and military leader.
Mass media such as La Prensa newspaper also devoted editorials to this date, praising that Bolívar was not only the liberator of five nations, but of a region inspired by his example and determination.
It was his determination and achievements that earned him the titles and fame that sanctified him. This began a history of freedom for America, they noted.
