The event, which ends on March 19th, will pit high-level surfers in a bid to win the prizes and add points in the classification within the league and in the overall leaderboard.
12 surfers will be fighting for the house, including the previous version’s winner, Manuel Selman, who is looking to repeat his triumph.
Tournament Director, Brian Mejia, indicated that he was very excited to host the second edition of the Cabarete Pro and, in general, “our goal is to disclose our values and create awareness that the Dominican Republic is a surfing destination is.”
He added that the playing conditions are good as the buoys are showing waves from 8ft to 12ft and will remain so throughout the week.
The parade will feature 112 athletes from the United States, Mexico, Barbados, Brazil, United Kingdom, Colombia, Costa Rica, Canada, El Salvador, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Panama and Puerto Rico.
And it will be accompanied by a whole range of activities related to the competition, including parties, live music, gastronomy and many other initiatives aimed at making the event a great attraction for tourism and local residents.
