They are asking the Supreme Court of Brazil to share the allegations of Bolsonaro’s former adviser

1700871153 8b6fdb2b975c5f340fcdBrasilia, November 25 – The Union’s Chief Auditor General (CGU) has reported to Brazil’s Federal Supreme Court (STF) access to the award-winning denunciation of Lt. Col. Mauro Cid, former aide to former President Jair Bolsonaro, requested the day before.

Such a confession is an agreement between the accused and the State Ministry (prosecutor), with the former cooperating in the investigation.

This means that the whistleblower waives his right to remain silent and instead receives a benefit that can vary depending on his level of involvement.

The R7 portal assures that the institution also requested the delivery of elements related to the jewelry received from an official delegation in Saudi Arabia and the alleged fraud involving Bolsonaro’s vaccination certificate.

For the CGU, additional elements related to the administrative responsibility of civil servants and former federal officials who may be involved in the matter will be helpful in the investigation.

The entity relies on reports, photo recordings, film recordings, bank transfer information, violations of electronic, telephone and data secrecy, information in witness statements and interrogations.

The Comptroller’s Office also wants the recordings of conversations that Cid made via email applications with Julio Cesar Vieira Gomes, former Minister of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Bento Albuquerque, former Minister of Mines and Energy, and Marcelo Câmara, Bolsonaro’s advisor, has led.

He also demands access to dialogues with other people about the introduction of false vaccination certificates against COVID-19 in the right-wing extremist ex-president’s vaccination portfolio.

On September 9, Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the STF approved the former aide’s successful appeal and granted him provisional release.

Cid had been in prison since May on suspicion of vaccination card fraud. He is also suspected of involvement in the case of jewelry donations from foreign governments, in the anti-democratic acts of January 8 in this capital and in an alleged coup attempt.

Despite his freedom, the lieutenant colonel adheres to precautionary measures such as the use of an electronic ankle bracelet, a ban on going out at night and on weekends, not using social networks and a ban on carrying a firearm.

If preventive provisions are not complied with, a new arrest warrant can be issued. (Text and photo: PL)
